Valspar Hands for Habitat Raises $150,000 for Haitian Relief

Valspar Paint and Habitat for Humanity launched Valspar Hands for Habitat in 2011, to benefit Habitat's rebuilding efforts in Haiti. Habitat has set a goal to serve 50,000 families impacted by Haiti's 2010 earthquake.

Headlined by Rob Lowe, Valspar Hands for Habitat featured handprints from more than 25 top celebrities and notable personalities in film, television, music, sports, design and fashion. In a nod to Haiti's historically colorful homes, and Valspar's belief in the transformative power in color, the handprints were made using a variety of Valspar Paint colors.

The handprints were auctioned to the public through charitybuzz.com. In addition to the proceeds from the online auction, Valspar donated $1,000 for each set of celebrity handprints as well as 2,000 gallons of paint. In all, $150,000 in auction proceeds, cash and in-kind contributions were raised for this important initiative.

A place to call home

Every ten minutes, Habitat for Humanity helps a family rebuild their lives by providing decent shelter. With a presence in over 90 countries and all 50 states, that assistance may be in response to a natural disaster or it may take the form of new house construction, major rehabilitation or house repairs. We feel privileged and humbled to play a part in helping people regain a sense of normalcy and hope in their lives; in addition to donating more than $35 million in cash and in-kind contributions, Valspar is also the driving force behind A Brush with Kindness, an innovative urban revitalization program run in conjunction with Habitat.

Enthusiastic partners since 1979, we are doing our part to transform neighborhoods through exterior house painting, minor repairs and landscaping for low income families, disabled people and senior citizens.

We wouldn't have it any other way.
