Valspar Interior Exterior Bonding Primer 5 5 1 1
Amazing results, even for a beginner like me! Admittedly I am not much of a handy man. I had never even painted a room until last year, and since then I've painted almost every room of my house with great results with other Valspar paint/primer in one products. I've been very lucky to have good "beginners" luck and have been very happy with the results (and the great tips on this website). I finally was confident enough to tackle my kitchen cabinets, and started with a small section to see how well I could do on a more intricate project than just walls and molding. I have those "knotty pine" 60's style cabinets and while I know many appreciate their vintage look, I just have never been able to stand them (I live in a house that was owned by my grandparents originally, so I've also been looking at them for most of my life). I sanded the small section with a sander, which even with precautions made so much dust I was sneezing for days (my allergies just went nuts, and I even wore a mask), not to mention the mess. I figured it would take me months to do them since I knew I'd only be able to do small sections at a time with that issue. Once I got to the bare wood, I realized I needed to prime it, and that's when I found this product. It's amazing - and once I found it, I did the cabinets in one day and only had to sand a few trouble spots I repaired with wood filler. I remember being a kid the last time these cabinets were done and hearing my Grandma cursing in the next room trying to strip them. If only she had this! I cannot tell the difference between the area I originally sanded bare and the rest of the cabinets, this primer bonds so well. It dries so smoothly and evenly that after a couple of coats they looked better than other finished jobs I have seen, even without a top coat! Once I put the enamel on, they looked spectacular and the finish is rock-hard. Cannot say enough about how great this stuff worked - and it's inexpensive to boot. I'm so glad I found it - saved me weeks of headaches and I get complements on the finished job constantly. A++! April 14, 2013
