Where To Use

Properly prepared concrete, wood, porches, basement floors, stairs, breezeways, primed metal, indoor and outdoor floors. Not for use on garage floors or other automobile parking areas. Not for use on exterior wood decks.

Coverage
One gallon covers up to 400 sq ft depending on surface porosity. Thinning is generally not recommended. However, when two coats are necessary, such as new concrete or badly worn areas, thin only the first coat with 1 pint water per gallon of paint.

Preparing Your Surfaces

The surface must be clean, dry and free of all loose, peeling or cracking paint. Thoroughly clean surface and remove wax and grease with an all-purpose cleaner (TSP or substitute), scouring powder, wax remover or diluted ammonia. Wire brush or scrape chipped or peeling paint. Rough or repaired wood surfaces should be sanded smooth. Prime bare, new wood with an enamel undercoater. All rust must be removed from metal prior to painting. Prime all iron and steel with a rust-inhibiting metal primer. Remove gloss from previously painted surfaces with gloss remover or by sanding. For new concrete, allow it to cure at least 60 days before painting. Then, acid etch with muriatic acid (see etching instructions and read all cautions on etching packages). Unpainted or smoothly worn concrete should also be etched. After acid etching, apply two coats of Latex Floor Enamel – the first coat thinned with 1 pint water per gallon paint. Prime badly worn spots on wood with a thinned first coat of Latex Floor Paint.

Porch paint! I bought this to paint my porch in a dark gray color. I purchased a gallon. The gallon covered my whole porch well and I have leftovers for touch ups. It went on evenly with minimal effort. It looks great and I've gotten lots of compliments and questions. I love valspar and will now stick to using their interior and exterior paints! April 22, 2013
Sturdy and Non-Slip formula I purchased a gallon of the dark grey type porch and steps paint . After stirring it I started to paint , I should cover or coat the porch and steps . The paint was thick and rich , and it filled in some ugly cracks and splits . It's a true non-slip formula , for sure when dry . I didn't have to apply a second coat , but I did go over badly cracked and splitting areas . I must say everything looked like new , and the surfaces looked sturdy too . I would use and recommend this product due to it's superior results . 4-4-2012 April 14, 2012
