Great Product
I bought this product not sure if it was going to work based on all the reviews. BUT it said money back guaranteed so I got it and tested it out on a small piece of the mantel I was painting. It looked awesome! It is a bit expensive at about $17 but a little goes a long way. I didn't even put a dent in the bottle when I painted the top part of a 5ft mantel. It even started to crackle on the tape I used! It is very easy to use! Just be patient you start seeing it crackle within minutes but it's not done until fully dry. I read that you can get the same effect with white glue but I would have had to paint the piece in sections and it seemed like it would have been messier. This product was perfect and super easy!

I have a question Please advise
I wish to use this product on an exterior surface but can find no directions on what paint to use or even if it can be used outdoors. The local Lowes sales rep thought it would work using water based exterior paint but wa unsure.

Great, even crackling
My husband and I normally do DIY Christmas gifts and this year, decided to do personalized plaques with our family's names on it. On the wood, we used the crackle glaze to give it a more unique finish.
Everyone was impressed by the quality of the product and was curious about how we did it.
Valspar's paint and glazes were the perfect solution to finishing some great Christmas gifts. Now we just have to figure out what to do with all the leftover supplies!

WhatHappened
I follow the directions on the bottle was a little confused with the variation in drying time from one paragraph to the other. The first stated that the crackle glaze should dry for 1 hour, the second paragraph stated 1 - 4 hours. I decided on 2 hours, and later discoved in the posts here that wasn't a bad idea.
Nevertheless I have not experiened crackling. I used all Valspar paints and glaze. My base coat was satin and I let it dry over night. The top coat was flat. I really would like to have the crackle but this experience has been disappointing.
I'm left wondering what happened??? Now I have to start over or find another texture that will work for me.

Crackle Glazed Cabinets
I used Crackle Glaze on an island in my kitchen and a cabinet used to hold my baking supplies. I have never had a problem with the sliding unless I have tried to touch up an area that is wet. Then you are in for a bit of a mess. My advice is to work fast and use a thick coat. If you see a flaw wait till it dries for your touch up. I have gotten many compliments on the appearance of the items.

Worked beautifully
I don't consider myself particularly crafty and I'm definitely not a good painter so I spent a couple hours researching tips before I started my project. The best tip I found is that it can slide so work on horizontal surfaces only if possible. I refinished a large curio cabinet and it came out perfect. I followed all of the directions exactly. I did my top coat after waiting almost exactly 2 hours on each side. It took me a little longer to finish because I've been turning it and letting each side dry 72 hours before I move onto the next to avoid the sliding issue. In a couple of days I'll put the clear top coat on and I'll be all set. Can't wait to see how great it looks in my living room!

Waste of time
I followed the direction down the the drying time. Also used flat paint as my last coat and nothing happened. It was very frusterating and a waste of paint and time.

Works great for art projects
I am a mixed media artist and use this product all the time on my pieces. I have always used whatever sheen I had on hand to put over the top and it always works just fine. I've also used this on furniture refinishing projects too with great results. I highly recommend it!
